Artist Statement

In large-scale installations and live performances at the intersection of Expanded Cinema and self-built electronics, I explore synaesthetic states. I translate two-dimensional images into three-dimensional space, connecting to the radical tradition of Tony Conrad, Paul Sharits, and Brion Gysin. Through the deliberate use of kinetic flicker, precise solid colors, deafening noise, and piercing highs, I provoke visceral reactions and challenge visual as well as cognitive perceptual patterns. My interventions frequently occupy public and non-theatrical spaces as well as white cubes to enable an immediate, bodily art experience.

Social Practice & Intervention

As an extension of the aesthetic space, I understand artistic practice as a collaborative tool for social dialogue. Since 2023, as Artist-in-Residence within the Fliegendes Künstler:innenzimmer program of the Crespo Foundation, I have shaped sustainable cultural projects at schools. In addition, I curate exhibitions with artist friends and esteemed peers at the Cologne off-space Gemeinde Köln (Ebertplatz) and invite artists from Taiwan to Cologne through projects with the Deutsche Botschaft Taiwan. This practice also expands through transdisciplinary collaborations – including with the dance company SPECIES (choreography: Carla Jordão). I am an assessor on the board of BBK Köln (Bundesverband Bildender Künstler:innen). Furthermore, I have been invited as a lecturer to the seminar “Material & Process” at the KHM Cologne (Art Academy of Media Arts).
