In the large-scale audiovisual installation “7062 Lines”, solid colors, elementary geometric shapes, and a highly precise choreographed movement merge into an immersive, synesthetic spatial experience. The work deliberately aims for visual overload and operates at the outermost boundaries of human perceptibility: the optical density of the projection can trigger moments in which spatial orientation fades and the room seems to physically tilt.

The installation is conceived as a media-reflexive investigation of the technical apparatus. The native resolutions of the projectors used define the absolute fundamental parameters of the work – the minimum thickness of a line is exactly one pixel high. Over the course of the loop, these lines race vertically across the projection surfaces at increasing speeds until they overlap at the threshold of renderability. The crisp, full-color edge of the digital image blurs, leaving unresolved whether this “glitch” originates in the inertia of the human eye or in the technical limit of the machine.

The auditory is strictly subordinated to the visual: the sound composition generated in PureData emerges as a direct reaction to the visual parameters. The title of the work is also its structural metric, naming the exact number of generated lines that traverse the space during a complete cycle.
